Guiding End-of-life experiences
Liminality symbolizes the sacred and transformative journey of navigating the end of life.

During this critical phase, I promote planning and preparation to ensure that individuals and families experience greater peace of mind. This approach serves as a gift to loved ones, reducing worry and addressing many unanswered questions. By establishing a strong foundation and structure, families can navigate the inevitable bumps in the road with resilience, making decision-making easier and more grounded.
I often encourage meaningful conversations, asking questions like, “What does it mean for you to be at home?” or “What are your wishes for your loved one?” This helps families envision their journey and make informed decisions before pressure mounts.
Just as we meticulously plan for significant life events—weddings, births, graduations, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, travel, and retirement—why don’t we extend the same thoughtful preparation to our end-of-life experience? Pre-planning not only offers peace of mind but also provides our family and friends with the invaluable gift of understanding our wishes and hopes during this time.
By focusing on these elements, we ensure that every individual is empowered to make informed choices, fostering a sense of peace and understanding as they navigate this important stage of life.
This part acknowledges that the journey of care doesn't end with the final breath of a loved one. This stage offers invaluable support, recognizing that both grief and practical responsibilities emerge, often conflicting with one another. While the practical next steps demand attention, emotions can get sidelined, placing strain on our ability to care for ourselves and process grief fully.
Through a mindful and supportive approach, this stage offers families and friends the space to begin and complete necessary tasks, such as aftercare of the body, planning rituals, or handling estate matters, while simultaneously tending to their emotional well-being. The goal is to honour the grief process, ensuring it is neither rushed nor ignored, allowing for healthy emotional processing during this profound time.
